There’s no doubt that the Zeiss Batis lineup is the best. 40mm F2 CF is now given a warm welcome at the Batis lineup sitting at cuts & camera productions studio. 40mm is something found by our DOP , cinematographers very usefull as 40mm is a very useful focal length. We have used several sony and zeiss and sigma lenses in the past and have always found this focal length to be extremely useful.
The Batis 40 is one that very unique lens that can stay on you camera forever. Its a “jack-of-all-trades” lens.
Lens also has macro capability. So it’s great for product or food photography, is a great tool for corporate cxo shoot or portrait photographers, but is also just generally useful. At close to 1 lac rupees, the premiumness and capabilities of this lens always attracts photographers. One may argue that one should instead use popular Sony Zeiss 55mm F1.8 Sonnar, or the exceptional Sony Zeiss 50mm F1.4 Planar , but neither of those lenses or even the Sigma 50mm F1.4 ART have the close focus ability of the Batis 40.
If you are running a production house and you have bunch of clients from ecommerce the you certainly require close focus, you will not be happy with one of the other options. You really should consider the Zeiss Batis 40mm F2 CF. I
